The orange and red leaves surround us, but while many of us want to curl up somewhere warm many of you are keeping active. Autumn sports trends are usually controlled by the school PE selection or by the professional sporting events. This guide takes you through Autumn sports, ones that are trending right now, and how to get involved.
Many of us would have played this at school, but there are many clubs and groups who play Netball locally around the country. The England Netball website here gives you everything you need to know about Netball in the UK. It gives you all the information on regional Netball in addition to big competitions, festivals and school netball. There is even a section for 7-a-side Netball which is played by 155,000 women every week.
If you start taking an interest in 7-a-side professional Netball now, you’ll be ready for the new year when the Vitality Netball Superleague takes place – keep an eye on www.netballsl.com for updates.

The professional rugby season begins at the very end of August so is in full swing right now. Most schools will be playing rugby now and organising inter-school competitions and league matches. We have the Autumn Internationals which kick off in November as well.
The USA are hosting a special ‘rugby weekend’ at the start of November to kick the Autumn Internationals off – with Ireland playing New Zealand in Chicago. For more information on this game click here.
Originating in India, the game is huge all over the world. Carrom is not as well known as other sports. With the world championships taking place every Autumn, it has hit our Autumn sports trends list. For those of you who don’t know what this game is, it is similar to Billiards in rules however the player use their finger to move the ‘coins’ instead of cues. If you want to have a go at this competitive game buy everything you need for less than £50 here.

A little more sedate (or can be) than the other sports in this list, is the sport (or hobby) of horse riding. Horse riding through the countryside on an Autumn day can be extremely therapeutic.
If you want to find out more about where you can ride go to the British Horse Society website here, they have created a section so you can find riding schools and centres.
